I will be so VERY glad when Community Server 1.0 finally ships. Community Server is an integrated blog/forum/picture gallery package written for the .NET Framework and is currently on beta 3. I currently use the .Text blog software; CS 1.0 is the next version of .Text, with lots more features and a better management interface.
So why don’t I use the beta? Simple — there are no upgrade scripts. I’d have to dig into the database to move my existing posts and comments over by hand, and I’d have to do it again when 1.0 finally released. They’re going to have a .Text to 1.0 upgrade script as part of the final release, so I’ll save myself a lot of work by waiting.
In the meantime, I get to deal with manually clearing out the comment spam. There are a couple of tweaks I could do to .Text to patch in the capability, but I’m not certain what effect they’ll have on my ability to upgrade, so I’m hesitant to use them.
